WhatsApp Coexistence: setup guide

More information about Coexistence in this article

Prerequisites

Before you can enable Coexistence, make sure the following conditions are met:

  • WABA feature is enabled in your TimelinesAI workspace.

  • WhatsApp Business App and Meta Business Account / Business Manager meet the requirements per this article

How to connect

  1. Open TimelinesAI > WABA accounts ( https://app.timelines.ai/waba/accounts/)

  2. Click CTA to connect new WABA account

  3. In an opened window follow on screen instructions to login and continue with your Facebook profile

  4. Select desired Business Portfolio

  5. Select Connect a WhatsApp Business App as WhatsApp Business account

  6. Enter the WhatsApp Business phone number ( the one currently used in your WhatsApp Business app on your device) and continue with on-screen instructions

  7. When requested open your WhatsApp Business App > Linked Devices > Link new device. Scan the QR code and proceed with on-screen instructions as seen in WhatsApp App in your device. Here are some of the settings you might be asked to complete:

5

Note: If WhatsApp asks to import your old chats or contacts, you can decline. The connection still completes, and TimelinesAI does not import that history either way.

8. When you complete steps on your device return back to TimelinesAI interface where you started connection. You will see that the WhatsApp Business account name and Timezone are now pre-filled with the name of your device

9. Keep clicking "Continue" to finalize the setup. Click "Finish" on the last step

10. After setup is finished you will be returned back to TimelinesAI where you will be asked to confirm one more time the desired WABA account and Phone number. Make sure to select the your WhatsApp Business app account and number

Successfully activated number will be displayed as your active WABA number in TimelinesAI > WABA accounts ( https://app.timelines.ai/waba/accounts/)

Troubleshooting

Leftover "Unverified" number

A phone-number row showing Unverified in WhatsApp Manager — usually left behind by an abandoned Add phone number attempt — is a stray Cloud API entry. It is not your live WhatsApp Business App, and in most cases it does not block Coexistence.

  1. Do not delete or re-register the account in the WhatsApp Business App. Coexistence is designed to keep that account live; deleting it takes your number offline.

  2. Prefer Coexistence as-is. Do not complete the standard Cloud API Add phone number OTP for a number that is already live in the app.

  3. Only if Coexistence itself is blocked because Meta treats the number as already registered in that WABA: in WhatsApp Manager, remove that single Unverified phone-number row. This does not log you out of the Business App. Then retry Coexistence.
